2009 Silver Kiwi
Scotsman William Ramsey named his shoe polish Kiwi in honor of his New Zealand wife in 1906, because the Kiwi bird is the symbol of New Zealand. These 2009 silver dollars are the first in a three year series to raise awareness of the plight of the bird, now endangered. Struck in one Troy ounce of silver, both the Proof and the Brilliant Uncirculated One Dollar Kiwi coins have extremely low mintages of only 7,500 and 10,000 each. The BU coins arrive in an informative story card and the Proofs are delivered in a leatherette case with booklet.
